Julien Schaal Walker Bay Shiraz 2019 12 pack of 750mL Red Wine

This is our favourite Alsatian winemakers go at a South African syrah. Truth be told, its a bloody good go. Its rich and voluptuous, loaded with blackberries and spices under a bouquet of heady violets. The grapes are hand-harvested, and sorted in the cool of the cellar to use only the very best fruit. 15% of it gets to see a bit of new French oak, before being blended back into the rest of the wine. The result is a caress of oak rather than a punch, that lets the fruit do the talking. Its remarkably characterful and charming, and offers fantastic value for money. Oh, and its pretty damn delicious.
