The teeth are today highly sought after for their durability, appearance and rarity, and modern crocodile farming is seen as a way to reduce pressure on the wild populations due to unlawful hunting as well as a means through which commercial incentives for the conservation of crocodiles could be generated. Many programs have in the last few decades been developed based on the sustainable use of crocodiles to generate conservation benefits.
