Designed by our favourite local artist, Christine Slabb of Bundjalung country, the Garrima cushion is a covetable piece of Aboriginal art.

The Garrima cushion in teal and white also reflects our ocean view here on the Gold Coast.

Joongarrabah is a peak that overlooks the Tweed and Gold Coast Region. In local culture, Joongarrabah means the Place of the Pelican and it has been noteworthy in the teaching of respect in Aboriginal culture, "Garrima".

Double-sided, with undulating bands of colour in the vibrant colour combination of teal, mid blue and white to reflect the lovely light in this region, this design was specially commissioned series for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018.

The Gold Coast Commonwealth Games team highlighted Indigenous culture across the entire competition, with Indigenous art and design featured on uniforms, on the Games Mascot Borobi, on the flags, posters and signage, and in homewares and interior design in the Commonwealth Games 2018 Festivals & Events spaces.

It was a gift for us to play a part in these celebrations, especially acknowledging local people and cultures. It made our hearts sing to see our artists' work in a public space.

The Australian Made cushions are easy-care, machine washable, and best of all, they are made in Australia from 100% polyester.

Care instructions: Our Garrima cushions have been made to the best attainable standards from polyester. Suitable for use both indoors and out, although fabric is not waterproof so please store them indoors or out of the weather when not in use. To spot clean, wipe down with a damp cloth. Cushion covers are suitable to be handwashed or are machine washable on a gentle cycle - please remove the insert before washing.
