The majority of the White Oak distillery whiskey produced is used to create the company's signature blends. The Akashi line is a rare exception. Considered by many as the finest offering in the range Akashi 6 Years Old Red Wine Cask Whisky is a sterling single malt that spends the first five years of its maturation in cognac butts before being polished in red wine casks. It understandably has a nose full of red fruits with a slight aromatic wood edge. On the palate, it is well behaved with sultanas, raisins, dried figs and apricots all laying on a soft bed of wood tannins.
