The Nitrite and Nitrate Filter Pads are made of high-quality polypropylene fibre media and then coated with a polyester resin that can absorb and remove the Nitrite and Nitrate.

High Nitrite levels within an aquarium and pond is one of the major causes for algae and fish deaths. Nitrite builds up over time as a result of too much or poor-quality fish food, lack of regular water changes and decaying plant or animal matter or overstocking. Build-up of Nitrite is caused because too much pollution is being produced for beneficial bacteria to cope with.
