Brother Picot Foot for 7mm Models

A picot foot for 7mm machines is a type of presser foot that is used to sew a decorative narrow hem on sheer and lightweight fabrics. It creates a shell-like edge that adds a delicate and elegant touch to your projects. It is similar to a narrow hemmer foot, but it has a groove on the soleplate that forms the picot stitch.

To use a picot foot, you need to select a zigzag stitch with a short stitch length and a narrow stitch width. You also need to adjust the thread tension according to your fabric. Then, you can place your fabric under the foot and align the edge with the guide on the right side of the foot. The foot will roll the fabric and sew it with a zigzag stitch, creating a shelled hem

A picot foot can be used for sewing sheer and very lightweight fabrics, such as chiffon, organza, lace or tulle. It can also be used for sewing lingerie, bridal wear, scarves, napkins and other items that require a fine finish.

Attach foot

Select Zig Zag stitch

Increase upper thread tension.

Place the fabric with the wrong side facing up under the presser foot.

Lower the needle into the fabric approximately 1/8" from the edge and sew 2-3 stitches.

Raise the needle and the presser foot.

Hold the fabric from the back and front and roll it into the curled part of the foot.

Position the edge of the fabric behind the needle and lower the presser foot.

Slowly sew 2-3 stitches, making sure the fabric is rolling around the curled part of the foot.

Continue to sew to the end of the fabric.

Can also be used with a straight stitch to create a slightly wider rolled hem. Needle may need to moved slightly to stitch in correct position.
