Sterilising instructions

Though soap and water between uses is important, sterilising your cobie cup is vital!

A menstrual cup may irritate your vagina if the cup isn't cleaned and cared for properly. It may also cause discomfort if you insert the cup without any lubrication. There can be an increased chance of infection. Trust me. You don't want that! So make sure you wash the menstrual cup very well.

Cleaning vs Sterilising

Surprisingly as it may seem, there is a huge difference between “cleaning” and “sterilising,” but both play equally important roles in your cup care routine. While these may sound complex, they actually are simple and easy to complete in a normal, busy day!

About Cleaning

This is the quick rinse of your cup with hot water and soap that you should do at least once a day during active use of your Cobie Cup. This quickly removes bacteria and build up before it gets settled into grooves, and is an essential step in preventing odours and stains and making your cup look a bit gross. It is also very important because your vaginal area is a place where bad bacteria could grow if you don't keep your cup clean. ;

You can reduce risk of introducing bad bacteria by washing your hands thoroughly with warm water and antibacterial soap before handling the cup.

You should also wash your cup with warm water and a mild, fragrance-free, water-based soap before and after use. ;

About Sterilising

Sterilising is when you submerge your cobie cup in boiling water and let it boil, thus making it sterile for your next use.

  1. Open your collapsible Cobie Cup Steriliser and place your Cobie Cup inside
  2. Pour boiling water into the steriliser and place the lid on.
  3. Leave it boiling for 5-10 minutes and remove your cup carefully, allowing it to cool.

Your Cobie Cup is now sterile. So important, yet so easy!

Wash your cup before use.
