What does it take to make life work? Adapted from the books by Neale Donald Walsch that inspired and changed the lives of millions worldwide, Conversations With God tells the true story of Walsch (played by Henry Gzerny in the film) when, at the lowest point in his life, he asked God some very hard questions. The answers he got from God / within became the foundation of an internationally acclaimed book series, that has sold over 7 million copies and been translated into 34 languages. The film chronicles the dramatic journey of Walsch, a down and out man who inadvertently becomes a spiritual messenger and best-selling author.

In a society that is growing increasingly egoistic, it takes a truly amazing individual with an incredible message to make people take time from their busy, self-absorbed lives and pay attention to the spiritual side of existence which we all possess, but many ignore. Neale Donald Walsch is one such individual and Conversations with God is his life-changing story.

Neale works an ordinary job, in an ordinary American town. He repeats his day-to-day activities with as much enthusiasm as such tasks warrant. On one particular day, Neale has a terrible car accident which leaves him debilitated. Following a series of unfortunate events, Walsch finds himself on the street. Burdened with a neck brace and homelessness, Neale adjusts to a new way of life. Angry at the world and a seemingly careless God, Neale writes a letter to his Lord, asking a series of 'who, what and why's? Much to Neale's surprise God answers and their ensuing conversations are the basis for Walsch's novel, which sat on the NY Times best-seller list for years and inspired millions to take charge of their lives again.
