The checker pieces are made from a very strong and durable plastic material that is UV protected and totally waterproof and can be left outside during all sorts of weather conditions. Each piece is tough, durable yet light-weight. Our Giant Checkers mat was designed for ideal flow so that you can easily play chess without difficulty. To make a King, two checkers are attached via their middles by a plastic rod. The top of the rod then protrudes above the King and works as a handle for moving it around.
