PRODUCT APPLICATION

SURFACE PREPARATION

Surfaces must be clean, dry and sound. Remove any existing finishes with sandpaper or stripper. Prepare bare wood for staining by sanding in the direction of the grain. Begin with #120 grit sandpaper and progress through #150 and #180 grits. Before staining, remove all sanding dust with a vacuum or tack rag and dirt, grease, oil or glue with a clean rag dampened with mineral turps.

TESTING COLOR

Be sure to test your stain to verify the desired color. To test, follow Stain Application instructions and apply the stain in an inconspicuous area.

APPLICATION

Shake container and stir before use. Stir the material thoroughly and often during use. For best results, use when temperatures are between 16-32oC. Allow longer dry times for damp, humid days. Apply one coat of stain liberally with a brush or a clean lint-free rag. Allow the stain to penetrate for 3-5 minutes; then remove excess stain by wiping with a rag in the direction of the grain. Only one coat of stain is required. Removal of all excess material is essential to ensure proper dry time and proper adhesion of the topcoat.

DRY TIME

Dry times are based on 21oC and 50% relative humidity. Allow longer dry times for damp, humid days. Darker colours may require a slightly longer dry time.

PROTECTING THE WOOD

To complete your wood project and provide long term protection, finish with any varnish depending on your project needs. A varnish can be applied 1 hour after stain application.

COVERAGE

Each container will cover approximately 25m2 per 946 mL.

CLEAN-UP

Clean application tools and equipment with mineral turps.
