While it might look like a cleaver, the metal on this knife is thinner and it's to be used as a general-purpose knife: it's good for slicing boneless meats, chopping and mincing vegetables and flattening things like garlic bulbs or ginger. One can also use the wide blade to carry food over to the frypan or wok after the cutting is done.

This stunning line of classic cutlery features the look and benefits of Damascus steel, yet without its rusting problems. The Damascus-look blade profile reduces sticking and results in less damage to the food being cut and faster prep times.

Shun Classic also features our uniquely stable "D" shape handle design. The "D" shape rests precisely in the curve of the fingers as they curl around the handle. The asymmetrical bolster is ground out more on the right side to provide proper finger placement and an easy, secure grip.
