Sidewood Estate 2013 Mappinga 'Fume' Sauvignon Blanc 750mL Case of 12

Sidewood's Mappinga 'Fume' Sauvignon Blanc is its premier wine in this style. Winemaker Tash Mooney carefully selects the best parcels of fruit from the vineyard, ensuring that the fruit is picked from the vineyard at precisely the right moment. After a lot of time spent walking up and down the vineyard checking to see if the flavours are right the fruit is then hand-picked once it has reached around 12° Baume. This oaked sauvignon blanc is carefully crafted in the winery. Grapes are hand sorted, whole bunch pressed and made from free run juice. The wine is barrel fermented and matured for ten months in 60% new and 40% old French Oak barriques. Pale straw with a vibrant hue in colour, this unique barrel fermented wine has luxuriant flavours of nashi pear and passionfruit, with hints of apricot and vanilla. A lingering, herbaceous after taste, showing toast and green herbs, finishing with a divine citrus line. Time on lees gives a very creamy palate, generous complex and excellent definition. Delightful to savour on its own and a great accompaniment with fragrant salads, fresh oysters or sushi and sashimi.
