Smoky Gin is something a little different. With the canvas being the distillery's own base spirit, they steep juniper & coriander before adding select botanicals along with home smoked Australian almonds, all loaded into a 200 litre copper still. This award-winning Gin is nice to just sip straight or with a quality tonic and a slice of orange peel.
All Blackmans Bay Distillery gins will change slightly with each batch and the dominant botanical will be handwritten on the back of the bottle.
These gins a truly hand-crafted, with the distillery making the entire product, including the fermentation of Australian sugar, producing a smooth signature base spirit. Each gin is also part of an Infinity Gin, meaning every new batch is added to the remainder of the previous, building a unique flavour profile over time.
Blackmans Bay Distillery locally source organic produce and cut the gin with pure mountain water, with all flavours arising from the distillation process, not the addition of sugar.
About Blackmans Bay Distillery: Blackmans Bay Distillery is a small family-run and owned Tasmanian micro-distillery situated on the bluff in Blackmans Bay. They produce just 250 bottles at a time.
Their gins are truly hand-crafted the family owns the entire process, from the making of their own base spirit from Australian sugar to the sourcing of local ingredients to bottling, labelling, and sealing each bottle, leaving nothing to chance.
These Tasmanian gins are made by steeping juniper berries and coriander seeds in Blackmans Bay Distillerys own base spirit before infusing hand-selected quality botanicals. This gives a unique base to build and create a local spin on a modern gin. Such as the Smoky Gin which has Australian Smoked Almonds infused in the gin, Botanical Gin organic kumquats that add a citrus burst and Harvest Gin organic cherries provide a subtle flavour.
The labels are as striking as the flavours of the gins. Local Tasmanian artist Mandy Renard created an image of a timeless Colonial Lady with a modern feel titled Inspirited Desire which elegantly sits on the gin labels.
Blackmans Bay Distillery takes time and care to create something unique but accessible they are passionate about producing a quality product from start to finish, not just another spirit to meet the ever-growing demand.
