Theres something special about the Sunshine Coast the freedom, simplicity and a sense of clarity. Its pure, fresh and crystal clear like a great vodka.
The Sunshine & Sons Original Vodka base spirit is distilled from the very best Barossa Valley grapes, which results in a smooth purity and roundness on the palate.
This vodka is distilled very slowly using proprietary techniques and copper pot stills which allows us to enhance and develop the bonds or congeners within the distillate.
The pure elements of the spirit are enhanced with defined and generous cuts of the head and tails, patient slow pot distillation and the passage of the spirit through a dephelegmator. The overall effect has extremely subtle and balanced mineral, pepper and very subtle chilli notes.
As the final step bottling, the vodka is gravity filtered through ancient local volcanic rocks of different sizes. Relatively high in natural magnesium oxide the volcanic rock adds extra depth, texture and uniqueness. This filtration method is incomparable to most others, giving the Vodka a unique texture and structure. The impact on the palate is spectacular.
Sunshine & Sons Original Vodka is of a very few craft Vodkas that is bottled at 43% ABV allowing the spirit to present to the consumers palate at the distillers chosen point of perfect balance. Its also naturally gluten free.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Very bright, lifted and touches of pepper, chilli edges and grape extracts, fresh, and exciting water purity of Woombye
- Palate: Very soft, pristine and very spongy texture. Grapey feel with touches of pepper, chilli, and minerals like magnesium, iron stone and flint.

Every decision and step during the production of CAVUs spirits is overseen by Head Distiller, Adam Chapman, aided by his 30 years of wine making and Adams uncompromising philosophy to give consumers an incredible product that stimulates and delights the taste, tactile, aromatic and visual senses.
The Sunshine Coasts sub-tropical rain fall is perfect. Purified and filtered rainwater harvested from the roof above the distillery is used throughout - as pure as possible, to do justice to the distillers vision and passion while retaining flavour, texture, softness and above all else a perfect balance with the final Spirit.
The purity of the water and each of the technically exact specifications and proprietary innovations allow Adam to do justice to the incredible ingredients and local bounty that make CAVU Distillerys spirits truly exceptional.
