The canine and feline Health Booster mix is designed to complement and fortify any diet with regard to essential vitamin, mineral, trace element and anti-oxidant requirements.

Contains brewer's yeast, kelp granules, lecithin granules, dolomite powder, garlic powder, parsley powder, vitamin C, barley grass, green tea, milk thistle extract, chelated zinc, grape seed extract, shark cartilage powder and much more. It provides high levels of B complex vitamins, and vitamins C, D, E, and K, along with a broad array of macro and micro nutrients, trace elements, and powerful anti-oxidants.

Dolomite supplies natural sources of calcium and magnesium. Calcium is required for healthy teeth and bones, and both minerals are involved in a myriad of metabolic processes in the body, including muscular movement.

Yeast and liver are some of the richest sources of B complex vitamins, especially B1 or thiamin. Two other important elements in yeast are chromium and selenium. Chromium is involved in regulating blood glucose levels, and deficiency can result in diabetes. Selenium acts as an anti-oxidant (along with vitamins A, C, and E), which helps maintain a strong immune system, slows down the ageing process and maintains elasticity in the tissues. Liver also supplies good levels of vitamins A and D.

Flax seed meal provides significant levels of Omega 3 fatty acids, which are commonly deficient in many processed pet foods. Omega 3 fatty acids can exert a potent ani-inflammatory effect when supplemented in the diet.

Kelp is a rich source of iodine which is vital for the normal function of the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland controls the metabolic rate of an animal, and hence its energy levels, stamina, bodyfat, reproductive ability.... Kelp is also rich in B vitamins, and vitamins D, E, and K, along with calcium and magnesium.

Lecithin is a naturally occuring constituent of every cell in the body. It functions to give power and vigor to the brain, cleanses the kidneys and liver, breaks down cholesterol and fats, increases immunity against viral infection.

Milk thistle extract is clinically proven to help restore and promote liver function, and ads in de-toxifying the body.

Parsley and barley grass are a potent "green food", containing high levels of vitamins, minerals and powerful anti-oxidants. They combine with grape seed extract and green tea to deliver a potent free radical scavenger effect, which has been proven to promote cell health and delay ageing and the onset of degenerative diseases.

Wheat germ is a potent natural source of vitamin E, which is another potent anti-oxidant, as well as being essential for a multitude of metabolic reactions, immune function, and co-enzyme pathways.

Ginger is added as a digestive aid, well known for its ability to settle digestive upsets and nausea. It also posseses natural anti-inflammatory ingredients, and improves peripheral circulation.

Vitamin C is added for several reasons. Although dogs and cats can manufacture their own vitamin C (unlike us humans), recent studies in the U.S. have revealed that they have a poor ability to increase production compared with other species. Vitamin C is another powerful anti-oxidant, and when the body is under stress or attack from bacteria or viruses, production of vitamin C is accelerated dramatically. Goats can increase their circulating vitamin C levels by 10 times in as little as 6 hours when placed under stress, whereas dogs and cats will take atleast 3 days to achieve this. By maintaining a consistent level of Vitamin C in the diet, dogs and cats are more able to withstand stress, viral and bacterial infection, shock and trauma. Vitamin C strengthens the immune system, and is also an integral component of collagen, the matrix of tissue that forms skin, tendons and ligaments, bone, arteries and veins...even the cornea of the eye..and as such is vital to healing from any injury. There has also been some evidence linking vitamin C deficiency and Hip Dysplasia.

Garlic is a natural antibiotic and blood cleanser, and has recently been listed by the World Health Organisation as the most important anti - cancer dietary ingredient.

Collostrum powder is a potent source of immunoglobulins (antibodies) and non-specific immune system stimulators like "transfer factor".

Shark Cartilage powder is a natural source of glycosaminoglycans (eg glucosamine and chondroitin sulphate) which would normally be present in the diet of dogs and cats eating raw bones.

Zinc and Boron are both trace minerals that can be deficient in modern pet foods. Zinc deficiency affects the skin, the immune system and the reproductive system, and boron deficiency causes weakened bones and joint degeneration.

Dose rates are varaiable depending on the animals age and condition: they approximate 1 teaspoon (5g) per 10 kg bodyweight, given once daily, mixed with food. Health Booster mix is specifically important for animals under stress or growth, like puppies and kittens, during pregnancy and lactation, for racing dogs, working dogs, and show dogs. Due to the high level of water soluble vitamins, it provides good support for managing pets with renal failure, and the vitamin C provides long term urinary acidification to help treat and prevent urinary tract disease and crystal formation.
