A lieutenant on leave finds he cannot communicate the horrors of war to his wife who clings to the trivia of her everyday life. Frightened of being "civilised" again he is forced to make an agonising decision.

THE PROMISE :
A new nurse at a front line hospital faces animosity and distrust from the old hand she is replacing. But the death of a patient helps bring the two women together.
