Bruichladdich 20 Year Old Second Edition Single Malt Whisky

Bruichladdich was built in 1881 by the Harvey brothers, who owned the Dundashill and Yoker grain distilleries in Glasgow.
Unlike their neighbouring distilleries from the island of Islay, the Bruichladdich range is made without peat. Without the influence of smoke, they expose the brilliance of our raw ingredient barley. Stepping further outside of whisky tradition, they have traced ingredients from origin to bottling, embracing every growing season, the subtlety of changing barley varietals and the methods applied in growing them.

This second edition of the Murray McDavid-era was released in 2004 and nicknamed the Flirtation. After 20 years maturing in Bourbon barrels, the Laddie was coyly introduced to spice Mouvedre wine casks from Rivesaltes on France's Mediterranean coast. The result of this dalliance is that the expected profound spirit shows the gentle nuances of alluring fruit flavours, with just a hint of subtle spice aromas adding to the overall multi-layered experience.

Nose: The nose is initially very floral, with perfume and newly beaten grass. After a while some fruity notes.

Taste: Cereal, newly baked bread and brown sugar. A balanced body with good sherry fruit, some oak wood and a touch of vanilla.

Finish: Medium to long and very pleasant. Mild sherry, with raisins and caramel.

Please note: The Bruichladdich range outer tins are extremely prone to dings and scratches. The tins often arrive into our warehouse suffering from minor damage in transit. This is out of our control. When we dispatch to our customers, we will re-pack to avoid further damage in transit but collectors should have reasonable expectations in this regard.
