This wild variety from Northern Mexico is intensely hot and produces abundant yield when overwintered. Grows in parts of Mexico, Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico.

Growing to about 1.5 meters in a pot, the chillies have the shape of berries, a characteristic that has earned this chilli its nickname: "The Mother of all Peppers." It's known for being one of the oldest Capsicum Annuum species, possibly even holding claim as the oldest strain ever discovered! Wild birds are credited with the propagation of this famous chilli, known by various names such as chiltepin, Indian chilli, and chile tepin; it is also commonly referred to as chiltepe, turkey, bird's eye, or simply bird peppers.
