WHY CORE VALUES?
The Australian government has identifi ed that the teaching of core values from an early age represents a great benefit to the wider community. One only needs to look around at the present state of our youth and identify aspects that may be missing from their personal values, way of thinking and general respect for society.
We believe that teaching these 12 Core Values keywords through fun based sport and recreation activities gives children a greater chance to absorb and learn the values, rather than sitting in a class room and being told what to think. We believe children will respond more positively and have the chance to learn the values through actual simulated life situations. We have devised a specific booklet with games that correspond to each particular key word.
Examples may be things such as 30 minutes per week the school may have a directive to spend half an hour or an hour on one new keyword. The benefit of our program is that it doesn't require a specialized P.E teacher, but can be taught by anyone from year 12 mathematics teacher to grade 1 art teacher.
Benefits:
Teaches children 12 important fundamental key values, identified as lacking in young generations.
Activity based learning increases the chance of children absorbing the information as the value is demonstrated
in a real life situation.
Gets children involved with a wider class situation, replicating a real life community situation.
Faith that the future generations of Australian children will grow up and implement these core values for
a more harmonious society.
Understand other peoples beliefs and learn to respect them.
