About the Authors

Dan Howard is a Senior Counsel at the NSW Bar. He is a former President of the NSW Mental Health Review Tribunal and a former Acting Judge of the District Court of NSW. He was for many years a Crown Prosecutor and appeared in many criminal trials and appeals, including numerous cases involving mental health issues. He has extensive experience in teaching criminal trial advocacy. He is currently a Visiting Professorial Fellow with the School of Law at the University of Wollongong, and a Conjoint Associate Professor in the School of Psychiatry at the University of NSW.
