This strop is made up of a fabric side and a leather side. The purpose of the fabric is to remove all the material that could potentially damage the leather first - such as coarse metal, left over soap particles, hair, etc. Then the leather does the bulk of the work on realigning the razor blade's edge.

Just pass your razor over the fabric side 20 times followed by the leather side 20 times before each shave to ensure it remains in top condition and razor sharp.
