GODOX Octagon 140CM Softbox with grid

A softbox is most popular for its soft, even light. Softboxes are used heavily in portrait photography and many other types of commercial photography. It is an effective, lightweight tool for reducing light intensity without sacrificing softness.

Softboxes are used for softening and increasing the size of a smaller light source, and diffuse bare flash light sources. A softbox controls the shape and direction of light more than an umbrella and prevents more light-spill from occurring.

Softboxes are available in a variety of different shapes and sizes and can all be employed to suit the subject matter. A larger softbox will produce softer light, but will also require greater light output to sufficiently fill the entire softbox.

Aside from different sizes of softboxes, different shapes also allow one to alter the quality of light. This can be especially apparent when photographing people from closer range, since the shape of the light source used can often be seen in the reflections in their eyes (called catch lights). Softboxes are available in a variety of shapes such asrectangular, square, octagonal (8 rods), round (16 rods) , parabolic or long & thin strips.

Standard softboxes are designed and made for studio use with Bowens mount speedring. It is not recommended to pull apart frequently for outdoor use which may damage the stitching. Pls buy all in one umbrella softbox that can be easily folded up for quick set up and outdoor use.

You may buy an optional inner ring and change the standard Bowens ring to suit Balcar, Broncolor, Elinchrom, Hensel or Profoto flash.
