In 1817, the future King George IV of England requested that Hennessy supply him with an "extremely unrivaled, old and pale cognac". Before the finish of the nineteenth century, V.S.O.P, as it had turned out to be known, had immovably settled its notoriety among the respectability. The result of a continuous mix of more than 60 eaux de strive taken from the four driving vineyards in the Cognac district, V.S.O.P is gradually developed in old barrels from which the vast majority of the tannin has been removed.
