It should have been expected that a young Caol Ila would eventually join the La Maison du Whisky Artist Collective range. Perhaps they were just waiting for the right bottling. Aged in 1.5 casks this prototypical Islay single malt is smoky, salty and carries the iodine character that clearly defines the Islay seafront. Atypical is the taste of tangy fruit that jumps to the forefront on a second sipping and the cool menthol tinged finish that makes it much more refreshing than you would expect on first opening the bottle.
