The Macallan Aurora 1 Litre Single Malt Whisky

The Macallan was one of the first distillers in Scotland to be legally licensed. Since then, Macallan has built a reputation as one of the worlds leading single malt whiskies. The creation of The Macallan draws on the vital contributing influences of Spain, North America and Scotland - and of their respective natural raw materials, combined with traditional methods and craftsmanship.
The Macallan distillery was founded by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher. The original name of the area was Maghellan, taken from the Gaelic word magh, meaning fertile ground and Ellan, from the Monk St.Fillan - who held a close association with the church that stood in the grounds of The Macallan Estate until 1400. Farmers had been making whisky on their Speyside farms in the area for centuries, using their surplus barley during the quieter winter months.

Initially an exclusive release for the Taiwanese market, this is a gloriously exotic and full flavoured release from Macallan.
Four different cask types were utilised in the creation of Aurora, the finished article emerging as a sweet sherried expression with prominent notes of ginger, cinnamon and coca also evident

Matured in four different types of hand-picked European and American oak casks.

Nose: Citrus fruits, polished oak, vanilla and dried fruits are accompanied by hints of ginger and cinnamon from the sherry seasoning.

Taste: More on sherry on the palate, with warming dark chocolate, sweet dried fruits and subtle cardamom.

Finish: Incredibly smooth with dried fruits and more citrus.
