Product Description

In the villages of Midsomer there are fresh murders to solve... new clues to examine... and scores of suspects to suspect as D.C.I. John Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon) and D.S. Ben Jones (Jason Hughes) investigate all six cases from Season 15. Their deductive skills are put to the test when the appearance of a headless horseman foreshadows a number of gruesome deaths; the murder of a journalist has chilling echoes of a 1960s horror film when death imitates art; an amateur astronomer appears to have been murdered by a meteorite; suspicion descends on a local chess club when someone makes an illegal and deadly move; and something smells off when a local resident is crushed by a giant round of cheese. Murder and deception are never far away as mayhem shatters the peaceful and picturesque villages of Midsomer in this four disc set, also including a new Audio Commentary with series star Neil Dudgeon. 1. THE DARK RIDER Bentham DeQuetteville falls to his death from the roof of Quitewell Hall after seeing a headless horseman, but his aristocratic family seem more concerned about their forthcoming Civil War reenactment than the tragedy. Upon investigating the fall, Barnaby finds a priest hole containing a 17th century portrait of headless Cavalier officer Geoffrey DeQuetteville on a grey horse and learns about a family legend if the ghost of Geoffrey points at you it means you will die. There may be several more apparitions before the case is solved. 2. MURDER OF INNOCENCE When a barrister is killed in Midsomer, suspicion falls on convicted murderer Grady Felton. Grady has just returned to the village where he committed the murder years ago amid much anger from locals. But Grady has a solid alibi. Barnaby suspects he is working with an accomplice - that is until Grady himself is targeted. 3. DEATH AND THE DIVAS The murder of a journalist has chilling echoes of a 1960s horror film starring Midsomers own Stella Harris. When Stellas more famous sister returns after a 40-year family rift, the killings escalate, each of them reminiscent of a movie plot. Is life and death imitating art? This special homage to the legendary Hammer Films includes cameo appearances by former Hammer stars John Carson and Caroline Munro. CASE 4 WRITTEN IN THE STARS As darkness covers Midsomer Stanton during a total eclipse of the sun, amateur astronomer Jeremy Harper is killed by a blow to the head with a meteorite. Barnaby and Jones soon discover intrigue, sexual tension and academic rivalry are rife among the star-seeking community. CASE 5 THE SICILIAN DEFENCE Harriet Farmer wakes up after being in a coma since the night she tried to elope. Soon afterwards, a killer strikes members of a chess club. Could the attack which left Harriet for dead a year ago be linked to moves on a chess board? And where is her boyfriend Finn? Barnaby and Jones delve into the past as they begin their investigation. CASE 6 SCHOOLED IN MURDER Debbie Moffet is crushed to death by a giant round of cheese just hours after an argument at a Parents Council meeting at Midsomer Pastures Prep School. Debbie worked at the dairy which produces the world-famous Midsomer Blue and was found by her colleague Jim Caxton. But Jim seems more anxious about his precious cheese than the death of Debbie. Secret and controversial plans to modernise the dairy are revealed while rumours about private lives of the parents at the prestigious prep school bubble to the surface. As other people linked to the dairy meet agonising deaths, long held secrets start to emerge, making this case a particularly puzzling one for Barnaby and Jones.
