Nick Spencer Wines is a small Canberra based wine company dedicated to producing exceptional, hand crafted wines that honour their local landscape. Producing stunning, award winning wines for nearly two decades, Nick's passion and remarkable talent for considered, quality wines is evident in every bottle.

Awarded a degree in oenology at the University of Adelaide in 2000, Nick has worked for notable producers across the industry including Rosemount, Coldstream Hills, Madew Wines, Tertini Wines, and most recently, proudly lead the team at Eden Road for almost a decade. Nick has received extensive industry recognition, winning the 2009 Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy, the National Wineshow Trophy for Best Shiraz in 2011; as a Len Evans tutorial scholar in 2011, as a finalist in the Young Gun of Wine Award in 2011 and a finalist in the Gourmet Traveler Winemaker of the Year in 2014.

PALATE
Richer, fuller bodied style of Chardonnnay.

FOOD MATCHING
This style of chardonnay lends itself to classic pairings. Oysters perhaps being the most obvious one but any light seafood would pair perfectly with this wine.

REGION NOTES
The Maragle vineyard is located at the southern tip of Tumbarumba towards the Victorian Border. Unlike many other vineyards in Tumbarumba, the Vineyard only lies at 450 meters above sea level making it one of the lower altitude vineyards in the region. Fruit from this vineyard ripens earlier than other vineyards and generally produces a more powerful robust style of chardonnay than the higher altitdue sites. The soil is decomposed granite and is relatively light in colour. The vineyards are now almost 30 years old and are grown on a smart dyson canopy system.

VINIFICATION
The fruit was hand picked and lightly pressed to French oak puncheons (500 L). The wine then matured in oak for 10 months on gross lees prior to bottling.
