About the Author

Siobhan Chapman, Reader in English Language at the University of Liverpool, UK.Her main field of research is work in the pragmatics of literature and stylistics and she is the author of Paul Grice : Philosopher and Linguist, Thinking About Language : Theories of English (both with Palgrave Macmillan) and Philosophy for Linguists.
