About the Authors

Robert M. Kaplan is a visiting professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine, where he works with the Clinical Excellence Research Center and the Center for the Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences. He is also Regenstrief Distinguished Fellow at the Purdue University. He was the Chief Science Officer in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ) from 2014-2016. Dr. Kaplan served as the National Institutes of Health Associate Director for Behavioral and Social Sciences and Director of the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (OBSSR).
