The Hurlingham Croquet Mallet

Croquet Mallet from the Hurlingham set

Hurlingham mallets are a traditional style mallet perfectly suitable for home garden use. They are not weighted with lead like the competition mallets but are well balanced with an average weight of 1.3kg.

Only clear silver ash is used for the mallet handles. This timber has proven its resilience over the test of time. The lower half of the handles are turned on a copy lathe and the top half is shaped to a positive octagonal shape as used for the competition mallets.

They are supplied with an overall length of 90cm The heads are made from Malaysian Quila and are turned to a tradition cylindrical shape with an inlaid siting line.

The brass rings are heated before being pressed over the ends and nailed firmly in place. Not only does the polished brass look great, but it eliminates the chances of splitting the edges of mallet head from off center shots.
