The adventures of a Rolls-Royce roll across Europe in this far-flung comedy. Purchased by the Marquess of Frinton as a girft for his wife, it is sold when she's caught having an affair with the chauffeur. The new owner, American gangster Paolo Maltese, sells the car after his effervescent moll, mae, has an affair. Its last owner is socialite Gerda Millett, who uses the car to smuggle partisans into Yugoslavia - where the car becomes a symbol of freedom.
