The 27-1UL is a ;small, compact stove set that takes up minimal room in a backpack. Large billies can also be placed on the raised supports in the upper windshield. ;The 27-1UL system comprises of two 1-litre saucepans ;(1 graded, 1 ungraded), an 18 cm frying pan, windshields (upper and lower), a burner, a pan grip and a strap. ;

The Trangia 27-1UL Ultralight was invented to be the ideal device for outdoorsmen of any level of skill.​ ;Trangia's, easy to use, methylated spirit burner. A dual function Lower Windshield, into which the burner is placed, creates a stable base for the system and, ventilation holes in one side of it can be simply rotated into or away from the wind to optimise the flow of air to the burner. ;

This storm-proof stove system is based on simplicity. Two windshields that fit together, a burner, a couple of pans, a combined lid/frypan, a kettle and a handle. The stoves are lightweight. They need no special care and they are hardwearing. The Trangia stove is reliable, without unnecessary parts that can go wrong or be adversely affected by cold. The stove is quick to set up, and packs into a compact unit that takes up minimal space.

Two-Part Windshield
The heart of the storm-proof stove system is the two-part windshield. The ventilation holes in the lower windshield are directed into the wind to increase the oxygen supply to the burner. When the wind becomes too strong, the stove is turned to maintain the required flame. The stove stands stable, with the pan on the supports recessed into the upper windshield. The supports are turned upwards when the frypan is used. The combined frypan/lid can be put on top of the pan to speed up heating and save fuel as in the diagram at right.

Spirit Burner
The Trangia burner is an ingenious original product. Many have tried to copy it, but nobody has completely succeeded. The silent burner has a simple, durable and safe design. Regardless of the weather, wind and season, it is easy to light. The spirit burner takes up little space and weighs less than a gas burner. The simmer ring is used to regulate the heat, which saves fuel, and is used to extinguish the flame.

The Trangia burner runs on Tenol or methylated spirits (Ethyl alcohol or Denature alcohol in the U.S.), which are cheap, safe and easily available. Tenol is cleaner, while methylated spirits have somewhat higher output. About 10-15% water can be mixed with the methylated spirits to reduce blackening of the pans. The burner is most efficient when filled to 2/3 capacity. The silent burner has a simple design that means it always works and does not break. Regardless of the weather, wind and season, it is easy to light. The Trangia also requires no pumping, simmers superbly, and is almost immune to mechanical failure.

The spirit burner takes up little space and weighs less than a gas burner. ;The simmering ring is used to regulate the heat, which saves fuel, and to extinguish the flame.

Ultralight Aluminium
Aluminium is a lightweight material that conducts heat well. Our aluminium stove systems spread heat quickly and evenly. This means that food does not, for example, burn and stick to the centre of the frying pan. In addition, the hard surface means that the systems are very resistant to scratching and wear. Ultralight aluminium is 50 % stronger than ordinary aluminium. Consequently, less material is required to manufacture the stove systems. As a result, they are lighter.
